high temp under load??

ive got an i7 920 @ 4.0ghz and when i run prime95 the temps go up to about 97 degrees from about 45 degrees idle. is this normal?

ill have another look if the cooler is on properly but im positive it is. i will replace the thermal paste while im at it.

right i've loaded optimized defaults in the bios and running prime95 is now giving me max temps of 70 degrees under load.

i want to run my 4ghz overclock though stable. it was an ocuk overclock but for some reason after running prime95 for a few mins the cpu gets too hot and i get BSOD.

the core is at 1.280v. should i maybe try lowering this and if so, what to?
