I have a file server with an intel pentium g630t, with some temperature monitoring scripts. During a recent backup the cpu hit the 45°c Mark I set and the server shutdown, this has happened a couple of times now and it's starting to become a little annoying.

The server is built inside a Fractal Design Mini Array R2 and the CPU has the stock intel cooler fitted.

Am I being to conservative with my top temp or is my CPU running hotter than it should be?
I noticed also that webmin states CPU load to be at 2.26 during the last minute but apparently the percentage monitor says 49% idle which I thought was odd but not the point of this discussion.

I do think you are a little on the conservative side, the intel spec says 65c for Tcase which is a lot of room, and the chip will throttle anyway if it gets too hot. Have you tried setting the shutdown temp a little higher and seeing what temp it stabilises at during its highest typical load?

With the view of keeping it cool, what option in the bios do you have for lowering volt/multi's, and have you given the HSF a good dust out/checked case airflow?
Replacing the TIM from the stock heatsink pad one it ships with may help maintain lower temps too.
