Hello all, or to be specific 8pack.

I phoned up earlier today because im getting ridiculous temps at stock on my 3570k and was told to post here and ask 8pack for advice.

I'm attempting to overclock my system but having woes like ya wont believe. I have watched the youtube vid that was posted in this thread I started http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...5#post23953955 but not done any overclock yet. OCCT (4.3.2) runs alongside cpu-z (1.63.0) but only 1 core is at 3403 Mhz. The other 3 are at 100, 324 and 405 Mhz respectively and do not move. Core voltage is at 0.960v at idle and between 1.056 and 1.096 v at load, but temps hit 81 degrees. When turbo mode is set to on in the BIOS it's set to 3.8 (default???) OCCT runs for a maximum of 39 seconds before it stops running as the temp hits 87 degrees. Nothing, and I really do mean nothing else has been altered apart from AHCI turned on and onboard audio and video turned off. Cooling is with a h60 with 2 Apache fans set to push/pull. The pump is connected to the cpu fan header and the apache fans are plugged into the sys_fan2 and sys_fan4 headers but the fans don't seem to push out much air at all, in fact my powersupply 80mm outlet fan pushes out more air when I put my hand at the back of it and so does my spotcool 80mm fan on low power. I have looked on t'internet for clues on how to setup the h60 correctly (which header etc) but can only find that the pump goes into the cpu_fan header. How dya speed up the fans as ive tried various settings with slope pwm from .75 up to 2.50 and there is no difference in speed. Am I missing something blindingly obvious or not. I hope I can get this resolved.

And it still takes 13 seconds from when the power button is pressed to the beep. grrrrrr

I do realise the h60 isn't exactly a top banana cooler but its only there until I get a new case so I can put this under water (3d aurora cases are not built for water cooling unfortunately) but still.....I do expect it to not get stupid temps like im getting.
TIA

something doesnt seem right there the 3570k idle clock is 1600 it cant clock down to the sorts of levels your talking about. Can you get a cpuz and core/real temp screen shot of what your seeing

not sure where your getting the high temps from that looks fine to me ivys do run warm 55/56 degress loaded is fine, your cpu is running at the correct speed those others are bus gpu and memory which again look fine, also the post beep when firing up has no correlation to the cpu speed thats the bios running tests and saying all is ok

dayum.

Any clues on to setting up this bloody h60? which headers and wot settings for slope pwm as they don't seem to do bugga all. ive got the side of my case off ATM and my spotcool pushes out more air on lo power than the apaches do

i dont have a great deal of experiance with any of the all in ones im afraid i thought they were auto based on temperature, have you downloaded the control software?

Im pretty sure theres control software for them i could be wrong though as said never had one.

EDIT Scrap that it looks like its only the later ones that work with the control software

cheers, I installed the software, then uninstalled it again. Nope, it doesn't work with this AIO jobbie, i'm chuffed I didn't order one of the the bigger AIO's because it would have hit the PSU, this one has to go in the bottom 120mm fan mount because of said problem. Still, it doesn't have to be on for long (hopefully)

Have you tried re mounting the cooler. If only to check the contact your getting is good. Are you using a decent TIM?? Also on the UD3H in PC health status you can set the fans connected to the board to full no problem.

Default is 75% from memory.

I'll remount the cooler tomorrow when I get in from work, OCCT STILL fails after 39 seconds. As for the fans, i've disabled the speed controller on them and they're now running at 1500 on 1 and 1410 on the other. The PWM splitter should arrive tomorrow so i'll pop both fans on it and try again. (postage is 1p cheaper than the splitter itself!! lol) Hopefully they will both run at the same speed or there about.

If your Issue is OCCT failure then I would also be worrying about other things causing instability as well as temps. Although you are correct these are excessive.

Have you mem tested the Rig to ensure the memory is fine. Try also VTT 1.10 and IMC 1.05v this will help with stability.

memtest passed with no errors, so that's 1 thing i'm relieved about. should it be IMC @ 1.05v or 1.005v? I don't want to change to the wrong setting and it go all pearshaped. Why cant this have an autoclocker like the rest of the boards ?? :(

I reseated the h60 3 times!!!! the first time it was only making contact on the right of the cpu, the 2nd time it wasnt making hardly any contact at all. 3rd time lucky though and bosh, jobs a good un, its currently idling at 25 20 17 and 20 on the cores and OCCT didnt go above 50 degrees.

Time for some overclocking.

Max temps @3.9 (so far) is 71 on this dinky cooler, not bad although tis a bit high for my liking, it idles at 34 degrees and doesnt go above 50 degrees during gaming, I was going to go for more this morning when I got in from work but my ass hit the sofa and I was asleep in 2 minutes. Core volts is at 1.104 and doesnt budge, deffo need a new waterblock, is the raystorm the 1 to go for? The swiftech on my old qx6700 was/is top banana but thats staying put. I need recomendations on a cheapish case untill the 900d comes out, as long as I can pop the rads in it I will be happy (1 240 Black Ice Stealth gt and a Swiftech 240 jobbie that came with the Swiftech extreme kit I got from you lot), I may even pop a 120 Black Ice Steath gt i've got lying around in as well for fits n giggles.

TIA

P.S nice scores in ya benching thread. Are you possesed by beelzebub? :D

Raystorm and EK Supremacy are my current top two blocks.

Black Ice SR1 or XSPC AX series are my rads of choice.
