Hi all,

A few months ago i got a new cpu/mobo/ram bundle from ocuk.
All has been good until i decided to upgrade to windows 10 got loads of problems and grief so decided to jump back to windows 7.

Ever since my temp on my cpu at idle is 70-90c.

The cpu is intel i7 4970K
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97x-gaming 7

Got the ocuk techlabs 240 water cooled kit.

Never had an issue before windows 10, i have replaced thermal compound just to be sure that had not dried up etc.

i am currently using speedfan to control fans again this has been fine until now, when i turn pc on they sound like they are 100% until i load speedfan.
very annoying as when i am on the net every time i open a page the fans goes crazy then slowly calm down a bit.
When i open a new web page i notice cpu temp jump from approx 80c to nearly 100c.
Sorry if i have missed some information or this post is confusing.

hope someone could point me in a possible direction.

Hi thanks for the info, silly question how can i tell if pump is working as its the combined res/pump, i have no flow indicator (guess i need to fit one).

Thanks

EDIT: the res does feel very hot dont think its been liek that before and only 1 pipe from res/pump to CPU block is hot the rest are cool.

i can hear low hum and i kinda can feel a vibration but that could be case fans below it.
Does this sound like a cooling issue then or could windows 7 to 10 then back to 7 done something? or even cpu going faulty?
I might try and put air cooling on cpu and leave watercooling out to try and eliminate things?

Thanks

hi thanks for the info, i had speedfan configured correctlly ( i think) as it was working fine and how id like it keeping temps low etc and ramping up with cpu temp, i have just put a basic stock fan on cpu and bang under and around 40c so im guessing its my pump knackered?
Regards to the mobo software i just couldnt get it configured right it wouldnt save the config and kept on going back to default after some googling i found im not alone so i decided to drop that and turn speedfan back on.

Looks like i need a new pump/res, next question off topic but what would be a nice upgrade from the res/pump i have atm, id like to keep rad and piping etc.
(if not ill post question in watercooling)

Thanks again all for your input.

im not sure how/if i can see the rpm of the pump?
i send them a webnote as wasnt sure what to put in a new post lol

i believe i am idle as i looked at task manager under performance tab there's a cpu usage bar on left that bounces from 5-0%, unless there's a more accurate monitor?
im going to rig up watercooled system on a bench to see if i can hear the pump running any clearer but it has to be pump related, do pipes get blocked? i only replaced the coolant about a month ago and flushed system right out.

yup pump is defo faulty, i managed to get air bubbles into system turned the cooling system on and after a long long time no bubbles have move.
so video off to OCUK and they are happy to replace it, happy days.

Thankyou all for your advice.

oh p.s yes pump is connected directly to 12V
