High temps on new cooler

I originally had a Corsair H150i elite which had idle coolant temps of around 30-33 degrees which I wasn't totally happy with, now I have fitted a H150i Link and my temps were 50-60 degrees idle, with the coolant sitting at roughly 40c I have reinstalled the bracket and re-seated the cooler and I have managed to reduce this to coolant temp 38 idle cpu temps are roughly ranging from 45c to 52c.

What could be wrong?? I have z690 maximus formula 4090 and a 13600kf

Have you removed the cooler and checked you're getting good paste coverage? Are you over tightening the cooler? Are you sure the CPU is at idle?

Surely it's only temperatures under load that matter anyway, no? What's the before and after there?

got also icue h150i capellix elite..coolant 32-33 with light use, yt or surfing the internet. cpu 13600k, 36-41C, fans 600-700rpm..when gaming cpu 50-56C, pump quiet mode, fans 1000rpm.. cpu oc to 5.5ghz e-4.3ghz. when doing CR24 around 36-7C water coolant, pump on quiet mode, fans 1000rpm..cpu temp 82-84C..happy with mine aio..

still dont understand why u changed.

I was having an issue with the RGB from my 9 fans causing stuttering one of the cables had degraded, so I got the link system so I had less cabling. The link system replaces a commander XT commander pro and a RGB hub with just one link hub. All the fans are daisy chained so no cables there either, my case is much cleaner.

Anyway I have had the pc on for about 2 hours and the H150i Link coolant is now sitting at 43c surfing the net, I am not happy with this as my H150i Elite sat at 30c, my cpu is ranging from 46-60c now

thermal paste?
After all these years (20 years) and I fall for a rookie mistake like this, I think the pre installed thermal paste was moved too much when I was screwing on the plate, I also think I tightened the screw too much, I'll see how that goes but idle temps are about 30-40 and my coolant is sat at 29 after 20 minutes, so I'm more than happy with that, although I think it still could be better.

Do you think under-volting the CPU would help, I've heard intel overvolt the cpu out the box is that correct.

I have used some old paste I had lying around which I applied although it is better the temps are creeping back up, I am getting 40-48 with idle coolant on 37c,

Once again I have to concede that I am an IDIOT! Turns out that when my son setup the cabling he neglected to plug the radiator fans into the hub assembly on the radiator. So i was running the PC without radiator fans.

Now I am getting some of the best temps I have ever had on this build with idle coolant at just 24c and cpu temps at about 28-32c. Admins please delete this thread to save my embarrassment.
