High temps with Arctic mx4 on xfx rx480

Hello guys, my xfx rx480 was getting pretty high temps during december so I decided to re apply the thermal paste using the Arctic mx4. During the first week after apply I was getting good temps, they dropped to 62/64°C. But soon they started rising, and about 2 weeks ago they went above 80°C. I thought I've applied the thermal paste incorrectly. So I re applied it another time getting same result: the temps dropped to 62/64°C and now they are rising again, reaching peaks of 75°C.
The temps are recorded using MSI afterburner while gaming.
Should I assume that my arctic mx4 is expired?

So is it an old tube of thermal paste?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I bought it about 4 years ago

It might be worth trying a new and better thermal paste? If it still does it then, I'm not sure, maybe someone else has some ideas?

At the moment I can't buy a new one because of the quarantine in Italy. As soon as I can go outside again I will buy a new one and try. In case this post won't be closed I will reply here with the results. Thanks for the replies

I don't have money on my credit card atm to buy it :/ and Amazon suspended delivers of non essentials products. So I'll have to wait...

Maybe there's another solution, either way I'd still change the paste when you can

What Space Monkey said. At least system is working and you can always use the paste you have and get another couple of months.
