Been having a problem which seems to have arised since installing my opteron.
Before I used to have a 3400 Newcastle cooled by a XP-120 and AKASA amber fan, which idled as low as 27 degrees, can't remember load but it wasn't high at all. Next was a 3800 Venice which I had 1.47v going through on the currentl SLI-DR I have and cooled by the same heatsink and fan combo.
This also kept very good temps, but since getting my opty I can't seem to cool it sufficiently. I have tried, the XP-120, Big Tyhoon and Cythe Ninja.
I have obviously come to the conclusion the IHS had poor contact, so today I removed it and replaced the big typhoon yet the chip reaches 57 degress during S&M.
This is with 1.55v at 3GHz. When I tried the scythe Ninja (with the IHS on) I also changed my 2*120mm case fans to models which pushed abit more air than what I currently had. Since doing those two things my computer seems to be unable to run at 3Ghz anymore ? Weird.
Also PWMIC how hot can these get as mine gets to 60+.
