Can i draw your attention to this thread as i see a lot of people recommending Akasa mirage cases still for rigs like these
8800gtx/8800gts
conroe
ninja heatsink fan/tuniq tower
ds3/4/dq6 etc
want to overclock etc

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17703576
So it seems these cases with a front intake at bottom and one at back
with power supply on the top are just not upto the task when it comes to
air cooling an overclocked conroe with an 8800 card.
It's disconcerting to say the least as i'm sure many people are
still getting the Akasa mirage for this sort of rig.

I've just had a quick read through and I don't see anything about the Lian-Li PC7+ not being ok, I know it is a thread about the Mirage/Eclipse but I wondered why you name the Lian-Li as well. :)

Because the lian li is more or less the same design ie 1 intake at front bottom and 1 at rear back upper and is worse than the eclipse for cooling.
i take it you own the lian li then and are getting a bit precious about it?
So you think the pc 7+ is better than the eclipse for keeping components cool then?

I own a Chieftec Dragon, it is big enough for it's own eco-system so I never worry about anything being cool enough, in fact I don't even bother with any case fans so nah, I'm not getting precious about the Lian-Li. I was just querying if you had anything to back up your statement since so far I've only seen a post or two about the Mirage/Eclipse not cooling well enough. It might be the Lian-Li suffers from the same problems but I'd like to know a bit more before I change my recommendation about a case which has been highly praised before. :)

I'd say if you're serious about overclocking you would probably either increase the speed of the fans to cope with the extra heat, or buy better fans. If you're going to spend £20-£30 or more on an aftermarket CPU cooling, then £5-10 a pop on some decent fans, 1 in 1 out, doesn't seem unreasonable.

I still think the cases are good for cooling, in terms of their design and layout.

You've missed the point.I wont comment anymore about it
just think it's bad advice to recommend those 2 cases for
those type of setups.I have removed any mention of the lian li pc7+
i just thought it was a similar type case except a bit narrower is all.
