My opteron 146 (CACJE 0604CPAW) really isn't very good. The most I can get out of it at stock volts was around 2.5ghz and at 1.65v it'll go stably to only 2.66ghz (it boots at 2.9ghz but fails prime and super pi immediately).

So is 1.65v safe? Some people say it is, while others say 1.55v is quite high.

The thing is, my temperatures are really good, usually 33° idle and 42° load. So I'm hoping it's safe. Is it?

Even though the temps are good, high volts can still damage a cpu and shorten it's lifespan. I wouldn't put it any higher than 1.55V.

I would have thought you would be able to get a better overclock with that cpu. Did you set the HT multi to 3x?
