Hi there,

I'm having an issue trying to find a good hard drive which stand within our radius server. We're about to replace our 2nd hard drive in the system which is used to record all internet sessions of every user 24/7/365.
Space isn't really our issue as at the moment we are only using 250GB (and this should remain or upgrade to 500GB).

Can anyone recommend a good hard drive I could use for a high writing function.

Specs:
atleast 250GB space
7200rpm
SATA connection
typical working environment temperature 53.5c (internal case temp)
Air temp 21.5c (room)

You probably want enterprise level discs, my experience with using retail HDDs for high volume logging purposes hasn't been inspiring :D

As above, use enterprise SATA like the WD RE4 or Seagate Constellation ES.

Are you using RAID 1 (or better) so a disk failure isn't a big issue unless you are plain unlucky?

Hi
Thanks for all your replies; I think I'm going to order 2x Seagate Constellation ES. I'll let everyone know how i get along with them!

Thanks again
