Specing a new machine and wondering whether to go for an i5 with 5770 CrossFire

Or an i7 with a single GPU

I play the likes of GTA at the moment at a screen res of 1680 x 1050 on a HP monitor

The only reason i suggested the 920 option was that in a couple of years time, having the 16x lanes will prove beneficial when it comes to gaming.

Fair comment.

I was looking at the MSI motherboard for the I5 too

Aye, i'd always go for the better CPU over video for a build where you want to keep it running for a few years, mainly because as a general rule you can change/add a video card much easier than the CPU (I've yet to have a system where new CPU's have been compatible with the motherboard after about 2-3 years, and worth the upgrade compared to a new motherboad/cpu;))

Ok going full circle hear sorry chaps.

5870 on a Q6600 (sorting out o/c it.)

5850 on a Q6600 (sorting out o/c it.)

5770 CrossFired on a Q6600 (sorting out o/c it.)

Basically I'm looking at keeping the CPU, but changing the motherboard and GFX
