Higher Educational Discount

Apple stores will do it, but not premium resellers.

You'll require proof instore, whereas on the phone they sometimes "forget" to ask ;)

You can use your student id in store but you get much better discount if you actually log in from your institutions network.

I might be wrong but when I bought my ibook nearly 2 years ago that was the case.

Logging in via the uni network and going to the right section of the store will give you the full uni discount.

Which is the correct section? When I look I get:

# Apple Store for Further Education
Please call 0800 039 1010
(By phone exclusively)

I have ordered things before online with edu discount, so not sure whats happening now.

you need to either use a uni pc or setup a VPN connection from your home pc to the uni network, then you will be able to access the 'apple store for higher education'.

I think there is some confusion. There is an apple store for higher education, and an apple store for further education.
Both have different levels of discount. Further education is the store I cannot find access to except over the phone, which gives the most discount.

Just had a look on the site, that seems to be new I don't remember it being there before.

I bought my MB a couple of weeks ago from an Apple store in Sheffield and was given a 14% discount which tallied with the discounts that were showing up when I logged into the higher education store online. I think now that they are doing this free ipod thing the discounts may have gone down on the higher education store, I seem to remember seeing something about 8% or similar. If that's the case I'd rather have more money off and not have a nano.

Phone the further education store up I guess - I don't know what the difference between 'higher' and 'further' would be though, as 'higher' already applies to those at university, so what could further be? Doctorate maybe?

ah well there you go then.

you can get HE discount on the phone, online and in store. I checked it out and if you go for the free ipod you do get less money off.

When i ordered my MBP over the phone with Uni discount, I was quoted a price with the 15% off. When I then asked about the free nano, they included that in the price (cos you get a mail-in rebate thingy), but the price of the MBP didn't change.
