Hi Guys

I fancy going up to the highlands in late november for a bit of sightseeing and whatnot preferably in a log cabin. Was thinking the loch ness area, but having no experience of the area am open to suggestions! Coming from the midlands so don't really want to go much higher than loch ness as that's already 400+ miles.

Have done some general looking on the net and there is lots out there, I would like a cabin that fits 2 people and it would be for 3 nights with a budget of around £500 for the cabin?

Anyone been or have any tips ?

Thanks

Lower Highlands.

Family have been going there for ages now.
Even before they rebuilt everything, proper old school 70's style log cabins!

Now I think there marketing is more aimed at "executive" holidays, ie the hot tub, bath robe and slippers provided.

I personally havn't been in a few years but parents still go up for a long weekend. I understand the site is quite a lot bigger now with more cabins and more of the executive styles, scaring off families and the proper outdoors walking type poeple.

edit, a couple of more I've stayed at and parents have occasionaly revisited.
http://www.silvergladesaviemore.co.uk/ - at Aviemore, good base for Cairngormes. Not a cabins as you can see but a housing estate, and not a local authority one before anyone says, a "modern" new build estate.

I've stayed in Pine Bank Chalets in Aviemore a couple of times and that was quite nice, I think the specific cabin was Cairn Lochan but I can't remember with total certainty. However I've been told that there are some that are in a hollow where you're not likely to see much sun/it's rather cold so it may be worth checking precisely where they are in terms of location on the site.
