Hi won't mention competitors so don't worry! :)

Basically, want to buy a macbook tomorrow, are the advertised "macbook 2.16ghz" the same as the ones on the apple site?...are they stocking the new ones with Santa rosa...

Not to up to date with macbooks, but don't want to buy old tech for the same price!

Cheers:)

Sorry for double post in short amount of time...

Just recognised in the pics on the high street sites it has the "isight" camera at the top of the macbook....

Am I right in thinking this is only on the new macbooks?

Just get it from the Apple site, ring up and say you're a student/buying for a student and get 14% off.

I can't wait now lol! My local reseller has the £699 Santa rosa one...

2ghz c2d, 80 gb hdd, 1gb ram (will upgrade to 4gb myself)

The only issue is there is no dvd rw...don't see this a problem though, I can still hook it up to my t.v. to watch on there can't I ? - Composite...is it possible.

The spec eventually will be :

2.0 ghz c2d, 4gb ram, 80 gb hdd, and the cdrw drive which reads dvds.

Decent enough?....The whole lot will be under £750 because if discount and the ram upgrade.

Has anyone got the student discount from the online store before? I'm no longer a student but I want to know if I can get a discount anyway without having to prove anything.

I think you need to access the online apple store from a Uni computer / proxy server. Otherwise you can't even see the pricing, let alone order.

you can see the pricing for educational discount - it just asks for your institution and city.

just go to the UK store, hit education at the bottom right and click on the link.

For Higher Education discount it says (You can only access the above link
from your Institution's network)
