Is it possible for Hijackers to program pop-up boxes like the "Xp internet security 2011" so that OK is OK AND Cancel is OK too, ie you don't want to install the program so you click CANCEL but the programmer has programed it in such a way that the program installs if you click either button?

Is it always safe to click Cancel?

I've often wondered about this and if I'm hit with such a choice and it apears dangerous I hit the Computer Reset Button rather than make a choice.

Is there a safer choice I could consider?

Thanx

If there's no 'X' button, you could open Task Manager and kill the process (firefox.exe, chrome.exe, iexplore.exe for example)

Run 'mbam' and 'spybot s&d'

Use the immunize part of spybot, it will help stop a lot of them

The buttons can do whatever the malware wants. ALWAYS use task manager to close the window rather than clicking on anything.

u can alt+f4 to close the box to but usually rhey instantly pop up
iv never tried just holding alt+f4 to see if that would work

You would be a FOOL to click ANYTHING outside of the browser controls on such a popup.

Also - get a decent browser which is not prone to script kiddy popup boxes.

just click the X?

In these cases clicking the X button would be the same as clicking the OK button so the only way is to kill the program through task manager.

@Sin_Chase: There isn't a browser out there I know of that would be immune to these kinds of attacks without a little additional help.

Thanx a lot guys. :)

I'll use the task manager in future! This will save me time having to re-boot the computer.
