The analyze part seems a bit lame, only useful thing in it seems to be the percentage of logs that have seen this item, but that doesnt tell you whether it is good or bad.

Looks like we will still be manually researching items for a while longer then :(

clearly 'skanky' had said that MC gives a false positive (although he didn't say that :p) then you posted again, which made you assume it was a different av

i dont use av, but on my mum's pc (using it for the time being) it had no problems with it (nod32)

norton + mcafee are known for their bloatedness and general all round crapness

yeah and they are also known for being the market leaders, i have a corp light version of mcafee, that is not bloated and has done the job, everyone loves to have a pop at the big software names, i like using free progs but not all the time

nod32 isn't very free

norton + mcaffe are only 'market leaders' because of their advertising, and a company starts off, their billing debt may well be in charge of buying the av software, and they go ahead and buy what is on their home pc

:) Sorry but they are both awful products.

NOD or kaspersky are miles ahead.

Well I don’t stand here and pretend to know loads about AV or any software to be honest, but this forum always has a ‘the product I use is the best’ and the ‘big names’ are bloated and rubbish.

That may well be the case, I for example love using winamp2 and would not touch a later version, but I do find the lite corp version of mcafee to be pretty good, and we hear at Southampton City Council roll it out to all the schools and every user, it’s nothing like the bloated ‘home security centre’ the fact that it has brought out a probable error in detecting a potential threat actually makes me thing at least it’s trying! :p
