I very much doubt Corsair are manufacturing their own PSU's.
They're more than likely getting PSU's off one of the major manufacturers and rebranding them.
They are, they use Seasonic OEMs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as Seasonic build class PSUs.
The Corsairs seem to have quieter fans though.
In case you don't remember, Corsair PSU's were failing quite regularly at one point, with this forum recieving lots of reports. Corsair investigated it apparently and resolved it.
The point is that Corsair don't have a proven track record and yet everyone's buying them, kind of like Hiper Type R's.
No-one knows of Corsair's absolute long-term reliability and I hope we don't end up with a repeat of the Hiper situation.
Enermax/Seasonic/Tagan/PC Power & Cooling all have proven reputations and actually know how to build their own PSU's. Corsair just buy in CWT and Seasonic OEM stuff which obviously suggests a lack of know-how on their part and proves that they are not a "proper" PSU manufacturer.
Actually, the Galaxy range was built using a Custom PCB made by Enermax.
I already knew that Antec's weren't self-build or whatever which is why I didn't mention them.
Also, how are Corsair's better? Unless you can provide pictures comparing the (quality of) the internals of them next to a Seasonic and actually know what's what, then fair enough.
In terms of how long do I need, well longer. A five year warranty just means that they'll RMA it, like Hiper do. I don't see whats so brilliant about Corsairs, and it does make a difference to who actually build's the thing, because it means that RMA'ing may take longer as the unit would have to be sent back to the original manufacturer by Corsair.
Maybe none of this matters, maybe I am wrong about Corsair but I would never recommend a Corsair and I'd probably never buy one. Don't care about price, I care about quality and since when has cheaper=better according to PSU's.
