Hiper PSU Blown up?????

Well...Im currently away for a few days...and just phoned home to speak to the wife. This first thing she told me....my PC has blown up, filled the room with smoke and switched off. Well...I can put a quick guess on it being the PSU....and would you believe it if I told you it was a Hiper 580W!

So as I cant see it at the moment and wont be home for the next couple of days...whats your bets on what has gone Puff...

Next issue...what the changes of it taking out my C2D 6600, or the 8800GTX, RAM, DS4 Mobo or hard drives???

Next....I'm guessing it is the PSU so Im going to order another. I do have a spare in the house....but if its the Hiper and even though it would still be under warranty and I'd get a replacement...I dont want to use one again. So whats a good replcement...Im looking at the folowing

Akasa Ultra Quiet 650W PowerPlus Active
or
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant
or
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
or
Zalman ZM600-HP Heatpipe Cooled 600W Modular PSU

The OCZ gamestream PSU's seem to be a bit cheaper...are they any good and are they modular?

What do you recommend

jeez, unlucky mate..I dont think it will have taken out any of the components.

Was the hiper a modular / non modular version?
 
wow..fast responses. It was the modular...580W blue.

I guess the Corsair 620W is the obvious....just they aint very cheap. Any others a bit cheaper and just as good?

Just real worried about my GTX:mad:

na....it wasnt under load at the time...just switched it on and it went PUFF...Im still guessing its the PSU....might have been something else!
 
OK..can get the Enermax Liberty 620W Modular ATX2.2 PSU

for £93 with free deliery....or the Corsair for a bit more + delivery



so whats the one to go for?
 
I would go for a Enermax Infiniti 650W over a Corsair HX 620watt PSU....
as the Enermax Infiniti 650W comes with a 8pin pci express ready for future GPU cards like the ati HD2900xt etc

the Enermax Infiniti 650W sounds good...but worth the extra money? I guess that I will be using for Quad core not too soon...is the likes of the Corsair 620 good for that?
 
OK...im getting the corsair. They have loads and loads of awards...and Ive heard good things. Can also get for £90....or I think there is one avaialble on MM
