Hiper PSU for Crossfire?

My hiper Type-R runs my 7800GTX SLI setup fine.

(that's with two DVD-RW's, 4x HDD's, 6x 80mm fans, and other gubbins)

which type r are you using 480w, 5302, or the 580w? possibly one of the higher 670w ones?

and how much power do 2 7800gtx's suck compared to x1900xt's? i know x1900xt sucks up more power than a 7900gtx but i think 7800 series is more power hungry than the 7900 series.

looks like i have found what iv been looking for.
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/PurePower/w0099/w0099.asp

from thermaltake, its quad sli certified and only costs £25 inc vat and delivery. for that price its the cheapest way to get some serious 12v power on the case.

wow 25 inc del etc seems fair enough, i have the hiper 580w and was actually going to upgrade to a OCZ GAMEXSTREAM so if i get this this should power another X1900XT just fine?

i just checked on ati's website and this psu is also certified for x1900 crossfire. so looks like your set.

my 580watt Hiper Type R runs my rig (in my sig) with SLI 7800's as well, it seems to run fine

thought people thought Hiper PSUs were good, thats why I bought one :)

getting rid of it soon though for my conroe and 7950gx2 rig :D

If you crossfire with that, I think you need to use it with another PSU? Taken ATI site: "In conjunction with a standard 450W or above Power Supply"

I read a review in a well know customising PC magazine and they rated ALL of the well known PSU's. Some of the High end ones were over rated. A lot of them did not output the stated wattage. Also the certain voltage rails were just not delivering or remaining at a consistent level. Seasonics are supposed to be the daddies. They were regarded amongst the best. It is worth forking out for a good PSU in my opinion mate. Especially if it is going to be feeding an SLI/Crossfire set up. Like all components on a gaming sys you should aim for the best quality possible.

My two bits worth.
