Hiper PSU's

What happened to all the scaremongering on Hiper psu's? Was it a faulty batch or have they all blown up by now? I have a 580 watt Type R btw and it's been faultless so far. :p

Oops, I meant to put this in general Hardware. :o
 
It's not like they were all made with a timer that ticked down for 18 months then went boom. :rolleyes:

If your hiper stops working, it failed, RMA it, no power supply is guaranteed to fail, nor is every single one guaranteed against failure. The scaremongering on this board with regards to certain components is ridiculous sometimes.

Me mines coming up to 17 months old now guess i better keep a eye on it for the nxt month ;)
 
Mine blew up on Saturday!

It was about 2 years old though.

I'm waiting for RMA instructions from Hiper and have ordered an OCZ Stealthstream 600W unit to keep me going.

Might have ordered a few other bits as well by accident :D when my other half sees sparks coming from the computer she assumes it will be expensive ;)

I always used to say that about mine. Then after 12 months it blew up and took a brand new motherboard with it. :mad:

There's probably not much being posted about them now because they have mostly blown up or a lot of people got rid of them for something decent.
 
i've been in contact with hiper about mine recently, As its getting that squel that they do before going. I'll be sending mine off next week.

And all warranties must be done through the place of purchase.

I have to agree with that to be honest. It gets out of hand sometimes.
 
i got scared from all the hysteria so i replaced it with a corsair 620w. Just didnt want to risk my new 8800gtx.
 
My Hiper Type-R 580W Modular Blue is still going strong :), I've got it on a shelve atm as I got a new PSU.
