Hiper PSU's

Sarcastic comments are usually followed by a  Posting crap and then saying it wasn't serious when you get called on it is stupid. Grow up!
With due respect mate I think it's you who has the growing up to do. I don't participate on these forums much as you can tell from the number of posts I've made. To call someone stupid because they didn't use the right icon is not called for.

We come on here to air our views with a little sarcasm thrown in between. If your only point is to mock those views, even if they don't come out as intended in my case, then you've no place being here.

As an ending note, if you're going to throw comments back then I suggest you find your own words and not simply copy others!

Not bickering mate, just won't have anyone call me stupid! Anyway, enough said on the subject, case closed.

Digressing back to the whole Hiper PSU thing, I personally won't buy another Hiper PSU based on mine and others experiences. Seems I'm not alone on this but obviously opinion is divided on this matter though

My point is that every computer component carries with it a risk of failure, and there's no way it's feasible for every power supply to be tested to 12-18 months worth of usage to see if it blows. In a perfect world quality control procedures would be 100% infallible, but that just isn't the case.

RMA procedures are created because manufacturers are aware of this fact. I am of the opinion that if a computer component I buy blows, then I return it, they ship me a new one, and that's fine.

I object to the scaremongering and general sullying of companies that occurs on this forum because of a small number of failures (not saying Hiper's rate of failure is small or large, my point is in general). Last week there were posts where people were getting scared their Corsair PSU is going to explode because one person's failed. That's just plain senseless.

Admittedly some of my posts in this thread have been somewhat harsher than usual, but I didn't take kindly to you telling me to "Grow Up!", you have no idea who I am, where I'm from, what my age is, so forgive me if I came back on the defensive, but I just went by what I read. If you want to call it flippant, that's fine, but if it's on here, I'm permitted to comment on it, that's debate. (Don't get me wrong, I understand you didn't mean it like that, and I over-reacted).

Let's let bygones be bygones?

im on my 2nd hyper, and no Not because the 1st one blew. i managed to pop my motherboard on my old pc by overclocking, but the PSU which i sold on was and still is 100% fine even tho its about 2 years old now. i sold it on because i didnt want to try it out in my new pc, but it is fine anyway lol so i should have kept it.

my 2nd one i have now is the same psu, the 580w modular blue, and iv had it since janurary and its fine :)

Too right matey, sorry we got off on the wrong foot with each other (goes to give a handshake)

I totally take on board what you're saying and I would agree that if a manufacturer is willing to exchange a faulty product then I would be happy too. I believe even big names like Dell have had problems with components going bang in the past e.g. capacitors on some mainboards were giving up the ghost and rendered the system unusable. As always with Dell though, no questions asked they just sent out an engineer to replace the faulty part :)

Also on my second Hiper Type-R 580w. First one died very quietly (while the computer was off, as far as I can tell), my system just wouldn't power on one morning. It was 11 months old. Had it replaced through Overclockers, have been running its replacement for 8 months now and no problems so far.

The way I see it, while Hiper units might not have the best internal components, they are a 'cut above' the usual junk out there, and so are unlikely to die and take other components with them. (like Antec's smartpowers, maybe) My next unit would not be a hiper, but in the meantime, I have confidence in the one I'm using.

From the last review I looked at they had good internal components, I think its a preety heavy PSU too and heavy usually means a good thing. :)

the johnny guru review i believe showed it to be not too shabby a unit, its deffo got some weight to it but its odd that the majority of the complaints about hiper have all been about the 580w models.

Aye, I hope Hiper have looked at the threads on here and investigated why they are all blowign up.
