Hiper Type R 580W Modular - Anyone using one of these?

I built my mates pc with a type-r 580 a year ago (7800GTA64 3200+ 2gb kingston ultra3200) and his runs very nice.

Another mate has has a seasonic S12 600watt (620?) in a lian li case and DAMN it lets out a crapload of heat INSIDE the case which in turn heats up the other components - I used to have a type-m hiper which did exactly the same (they both only have 1x 120mm fan) - they would let too much heat back into the case via the inside rear vents.

I got tired of this and ditched the Hiper for a Enermax Liberty 500 modular - what a difference, on average 4 degrees cooler, my hdds sit at a constant 29-32 instead of 32-35 and my gfx cards temp never goes above 44 degrees (oc'd).

The enermax only has 1 fan too but is more efficient at thermal control and the rails @ 22amps for each 12v line are rock solid.

I run a 580W Type R (blue) and it's been silent and stable with no problems for over a year now. Looks good too.

The Hiper 580W Type R has two fans. A 120mm intake and a 80mm silent exhaust. Both are thermally controlled so the cooler your case the slower the fans will run. I know the 80mm is silent as i have a couple of the same fans in another pc and they are quite good.

To be honest you are always going to hear more about the components that go wrong compared to the ones that work properly. It's just the way things are. It is a good psu.

heh mine doesnt let off hardly any extra heat :o but mines only 2 weeks old..

I've been using a Hiper 580 modular for about a year now.
Initially purchased for my Prescott system and is now powering my Conroe system.
It has been 100% reliable and really doesn't make that much noise at all.
Nice piece of kit.

My mates popped its clogs after just over a year of use aswell, mines still going fine as i said above has anyone had a go at powering xfire off one of these?

Mine lasted 8 months before the rails went haywire, caused me no end of problems, would'nt buy another,my mates is still going ok though, luck of the draw i guess & he dosen't have a heavilly overclocked rig though
