HIPER Type R 580W series does not support Intel Pentium Extreme Edition CPU (dual core) as it requires EPS12V (i.e. an 8 pin ATX +12V connector). Type R 580W series does not provide 8 pin ATX +12V connector. We do not recommend using any adaptor that allows conversion of any form of connectors into 8 pin ATX +12V connector.
I believe some motherboards (all?) only require the 4pin as found on all AMD boards, so in that case it will be compatible. I would wait for another answer though
It's to be used on a p5w motherboard. Thinkin about takin it out of the other pc and using it instead of the enermax. Simpy because it's blue and looks much better, seems a shame to have a clear window on the case without something pretty to look at
Well I've just looked at some pictures of the Asus P5W DH and it only has a 4pin connector, so yes, as long as your PSU has the normal 24Pin ATX connector and the extra 4pin (which i'm sure it has) it will work fine.
I have just looked into this myself as I am planning on the same combination and it would appear that the Intel motherboard requires an 8 pin +12V connector whilst most other boards use a 4 pin (including the P5W - so we should be fine ).
I don't have the Type-R variant of the HiperPower 580Watt, but mine does come with the 8pin plug - currently power my power crazed PenD 805 no problems.
