Various threads on here Im afraid with not a lot good to say about the Hiper. On Friday my 580w Type R packed up, luckily no other hardware was damaged.

Thinking about it I have had a friend who has had one give up the ghost too.

yeh, i had a 480 watt and upgraded to a 580 type r when i went conroe last month, not had any problems with it, long as you get a reliable one shouldnt be any problems. *Thumbs up*

Got a Hiper here, been rock solid for me.

They're supposed to be "SLi certified" so i'd be really shocked if it couldn't power at least one 8800GTX without a struggle.

Sli certified for everything up to but not including 7900/7800 GTX 512mb cards. Any thing under that is ok. Alledgedly!

I had the 580 Type R for over a year until it went bang and took my mobo with it. :( I would never buy another.

Had my 580W Type R for a year now with no problems what so ever... :)

I really hope I haven't just jinxed my self!!!

ah same here as well :P 1 year and counting, got a new conroe rig coming and an 8800gtx to be bought alongside it, many negative thoughts but positive ones too!

Just got my Seasonic 650w energyplus psu and i am really pleased with it. Quad 12v rails and it's really quiet. All the cables are braided too. Much nicer than my Ex-Hiper.

The R580 can only handle 20A on the 12V rail. Doesn't the 8800 need 30A??

dont they have dual 12v rails? one is 20a and the other is 18a.

ive had mine for about a year with no problems at all running 24/7. (580w)

just bought one to solve my problem after my last PSU burnt out a connector on my motherboard, still works though!
Hiper is v quiet, hope i dont have any problems like some people on here though :(

Maybe somebody can help clear up this 30A mystery for me then. My titan 550W truepower2 has 19A on each of its 12V rails. Does this essentially mean that I have a total of 38A that should easily handle a 8800 or does it mean that I need a PSU with 30A on a single 12V rail?
