Whats the difference between the two exactly and what constitutes a Hippie/Traveller.

I made a comment recently that someone dressed like a Hippie and someone replied back that they thought they dressed more like a Traveller than a Hippie

Any Hippies or Travellers here, care to clarify. If I had a picture I would use that but I don't go round snapping pictures of people to then talk about them on some internet forum :p.

I can't really describe how they dressed or looked as it seems they are both unique in the dress sense.

Hmmm not quite what I saw, dreadlocks, piercings and a gypsy scarf a chunky multiseason coat and a battered rucksack and flaying dress, clad with walking boots and an air of self importance and self confidence as well as beads and large hooped ear-rings (not chav looking mind).

"New age" hippy....if the term is still used nowadays. Google "Swampy" and see what comes up. :D

I think you are confusing 'hedger' with 'gypsy'.

1) Hippy

2) 'Hedger' is West Country slang for dishevelled looking individuals who are likely to be drunk in public or homeless. Although it is easy to mistake a druid for a hedger, on occaision.

3) *****

4) Gypsy

5) Backpacker

We call them Crustys, usually associated with a "dog on a string"

New age travaller is also a good one.

Peircings and dreads or a combo or both.

***** scum - live in caravans, start random fights, leave a load of LANGUAGE behind and make the tax payers clean up after their own LANGUAGE

hippie - someone from the 60's - flower power, weed and peace to all things

traveller - backpacking kind - st00dent, or the traveller, also known as ***** scum

Travelers arn't gypsies, in my eyes travelers are the ones that respect other people and the land they're on, they earn a proper living travelling around with funfair rides etc, some are worth a lot of money

Gypsies are the nuisance sort, going onto illegal ground, chucking rubbish everywhere etc

Pikies are the irish version of the gypo, complete waste of space, no respect for anyone, they want everything for free.

They leave it behind on tape players or something?

Backpackers I don't know much about, my scum comment wasn't meant at them. I'm on about the ***** waste of space scum who drive around with their caravans and park on illegal land, cause a nuisance wherever they go, don't pay any taxes, leave a pile of filthy human excrement and nappies in the middle of a football pitch etc. (most of them).
