I'm moving into a new place at the weekend. Thinking of hiring a van for a day or two to hump stuff around and so I can avoid paying delivery charges on carpet, fridges etc.

Any suggestions of somewhere decent to hire one from in the South Manchester area?

Anything pitfalls or handy stuff I should be aware of? I know sod all about vans...

Taa :D

My tip is No matter how much of a rush you are in when you pick it up make sure you go round the van and note down Any marks scrapes and damage.
The company are s'posed to do it but don't do it properly.
If you go back and there are marks that have not been previously noted you will be charged for them.
Be aware.

Salford Van Hire?

Anchorvans.co.uk

Only heard good things about them.. dont know if they meet your criteria. The website is old but functional.

www.1van1.com

By far cheaper than any others you will find and no hidden costs or surprises.

As one of the above posters says, make sure you check for any visible damage on the vehicle before you sign off on it.

p.s. I work for the above company :)

Salford Van Hire requires a trek across town which is a little inconvenient.

There's a local place (County) who want £47. Looks like Stamford (200 yards from the mate who helping me move) at £41 and 1van1 (2 miles away in Stretford) for £39 are the favourites.

Any other suggestions are welcome!
