Got my 2 HIS 6850's to replace my 2 5770 's today. Thought I would share my initial thoughts with anyone thinking about upgrading.

Fired up Heaven first for a quick benchmark ran it at the same settings i'd used for the 5770's wasn't that impressed few hundred extra point on the score 1339 first run. So i thought i'd try a few games to see how they performed.

Metro 2033 runs with DX11 dof and tessellation and very high settings surprisingly well its more than playable very impressed.

Global Agenda runs with everything maxed out and never drops below 40 fps (10 v 10 matches) the 5770's went into the 20's.

Fallout NV Everything on full is really smooth it was unplayable in certain area's with 2 5770's.

Impressions so far are very positive much better frame rates than than the 5770's and I can now set everything to max in all the games I've tried so far :) had to turn down some settings to get playable frame rates on the 5770's

Good cards 6850 and 6870. Price drastically needs to "improve" to release £ levels.
How much did u pay for a 6850 if u dont mind?

Got them from OCuk £141 each with free delivery bit more than I wanted to spend but I'm selling the 5770's so it doesn't work out to bad.

There have been a fair few driver releases, might be worth trying to find the best for your setup :-)

Using th 10.10d's and the CAP2 profiles at the moment no issues so far. Only problem I've got is if I turn on Morphological filtering on in the CCC it makes windows mail blurred looks like its not just being applied in 3D mode in this driver. Might give the 10.10e's a try to see if they fix it.

One thing I am surprised about is lower temps on the 6850's than the 5770's. The 6850's run between 5 - 10 d lower from what I read the 5770's were suppose to run cooler. May have been the egg cooler on the 5770's the HIS 6850's are the shroud type cooler.

Sounds lke you are getting pretty sweet results with that setup. I have to admit though, that I would have expected 2 5770'S to handle those games pretty well unless you are playing at huge resolutions or eyefinity.

The 5770's played most games fine but sometimes the frame rates dropped to low for me. I could never max out AA & AF in most games but with the 6850's I can. Metro 2033 was unplayable with DOF, tessellation and very high settings but now its very playable.

Global Agenda was unplayable with all settings maxed out on the 5770's the 6850's keep the frame rate above 40 and above 60 even in 10 v 10 matches.
