Just pulled the trigger on a HIS 7950 :)
Only thing i'm concerned about is that its more of a side step in performance compared to my current rig, or is this not the case?

Nope, it will be an upgrade because of other variables such as power/heat/noise/CF support. You will also get more fps in games and be able to up the details to full and not worry about VRAM limitations.

You already know about your CPU, so I will leave that alone.

I went from a 4870x2 to and ICEQ this weekend, best thing I have done in a long time. Running at 30C idle and max 65C load. should have done it a long time ago. Love it!

Also remember OCUK are now on Quidco so use the link and get cashback. :)

To put some context on this, I run BF3 on ultra everything & 2x MSAA & SweetFX & SMAA on High at 6048x1080 and regularly hit 60 fps, with only occassional dips into the mid 50's, using 12.11 BETA 11 drivers.

This is on a pair on HIS IceQ 7950's overclocked to 1125/1350.
