Just wondering if anyone has experiance with RMA'ing HIS products? RMA will be to OCUK, just wondering what turnaround time is likely to be as I will be without a gfx card for however long it takes to get back.

had a x900xt iceq3 for about 2 months and the fan is making a hell of a racket now, not so "silent" anymore ;(

From what I've heard: weeks.

I really hope that's not the case though because I've got two HIS cards, both from OCUK.

I have a x1800xt in at the moment it's been a few weeks so far but they have tested the card and it is faulty so they are waiting for replacment stock to arrive from HiS.

The funny thing is the card is end of line so i am not sure how they are going to get a replacment but the guy in the tech department assured me it would be sent out in the first week of november.

It's just lucky that I have a few PC's at home otherwise I would have been unable to work for a month while awaiting a replacment

I RMA'd my HIS card through OCUK and they say " we never got your card back".

After 2 months I got a card from stock.

2 months! :o

So basically if you want to be able to play any games you either have to stump up and buy another card or wait for weeks and weeks?

I'd personally just buy another card, and sell the card when you get it back. You choose which to sell.

Its appauling TBH, spend £300 and have to wait weeks because they used **** components in their fans.

Oh well :/

Ya lol. My fan clicked every single day until the card stopped working...

I am appauled to be honest. The problem is, what can we as consumers do? Yet again, we get narfed... it never ends. Im giving up computers, who wants mine? :p

Just a Thought
If the problem is Fan failure which sounds common from above why not remove the Fan/cooler and just return that ?. To have to wait 2 months is obscene !

If HIS or Overclockers kicked up about taking the card apart I would kick up Like Hell

It would obviously be reasonable for HIS/Overclockers to make You sign a dissclaimer incase You mess the card up

My motherboard has been 35 days so far.

Yes, I have been without a decent PC for 35 days. I wonder what it's like to use a fast PC...

My HIS X1900XT had loud fan rattle/clicking on several occaisions in the first week or so of use. It is not making any odd noises now and is working fine. I hope it continues to do so.

Many of your rights when buying online from a UK-based company are the same as when you buy from a shop:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Your+Rights+When+Shopping+From+Home/Online+shopping/Your+rights.htm

http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Your+Rights+When+Shopping/your+rights+buying+goods.htm

Quote:

"The law says it's up to the seller to deal with complaints about defective goods or other failures to comply with your statutory rights. Don't accept the excuse that 'it's the manufacturer's fault,' although you might also have additional rights against the manufacturer under a guarantee. See also 'things to watch out for' about exclusion clauses – the small print that tries to limit a trader's responsibilities under a contract.

Tip: think twice before you buy from a trader who displays a 'no refunds' notice. It is against the law."

Personally I think it is a disgrace and extremely shabby service if one is left waiting more than 10 working days for a response or resolution.

I assume this is down to HIS themselves and not OCUK?

I would Blame Overclockers even if It was HIS...They should not deal with a company that works to those time scales..

I had a Fan go on a DFI motherboard, Contacted the repair center in Holland/belgium they posted me a new fan In a couple of Days.. :D

Think Half the trouble with all of this is the amount of "Muppets" that RMA perfectly good components, clogging the System..PC components are incredibly reliable, excluding harddrives ;)

After the deadline for cancellation has passed, a consumer
claims that goods are faulty or services do not conform to
the contract. Do I have to refund the consumer’s money?
3.67 In general the DSRs do not affect the consumer’s rights under other
legislation, for example the Sale of Goods Act 1979 or the Supply
of Goods and Services Act 1982. If the goods or services do not
conform to the contract and consumers exercise their rights to reject
them, you will have to refund their money.
3.68 If goods develop a fault within the first six months of being sold,
the law presumes that the fault was there when you sold the goods –
unless you can show otherwise. You should not charge return costs
for goods that have been rejected because they are faulty.
3.69 If you offer a replacement for faulty goods that have been returned
by the consumer, the cancellation rights under the DSRs will run for
seven working days from the day after the day the consumer
receives the replacement goods, provided you have previously
complied with the information giving provisions in the DSRs –
see paragraph 3.10 for more information’.

as far a i understand it your contract is with overclockers and not HIS

Is it just the fan that is the problem? If so get a replacement one. I can highly recommend zalman fans, quiet and v cool.
