Im just dying to get a 8800 but cant see any reason to do so at this time given the price and that dx10 games wont be around for a while. Also after reading a review or 10 and what Ive read through various forums im not convienced that buying one now is a good investment (ha I used the word investment when talking about a graphics card :) )So im thinking HIS x1950 Pro and 2 play CSS and BF2 at 1600x1050.

My question is this, should it be 512MB or 256MB version?

Rest of upgrade:
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Asus P5B Deluxe (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

why not go for the 512mb for mild futureproofing? From what i've read it starts to come into use at anything above 1280x1024 i.e. 'high' resolution
