Hi,

Well, after umming and arring about a new TV (mainly due to the buy cheap or save and buy a more expensive one) I've decided to get a cheap one now and be done with it.

Watching that last harry potter film and I turned to my wife and said "Well, I think there's something going on..." but it was so dark you just couldn't tell.

Got a massive burn in the top, 10 splodges of dead pixels at the bottom where my son attacked it 5 months ago and it's now really light all around the edges. Couldn't wait any longer and no time to save for a decent one.

49" as opposed to 42" we have now, but I think it's only about 11cm's wider so will easily fit, and it's 4K which we don't have anything outputting at that yet but I'd rather go 4k now instead of a bad 1080p one now as I've read most are poor quality screens.

Being delivered on Saturday so i'll have some time to set it up. Anyone know the best place to look for custom settings to get the most out of it? I'll pop a review on as well when it's done. Also going to wait and see what the audio is like as to whether to fork out for a cheap sound bar and sub.

OK, TV arrived on Saturday. With a discount it was about £349.

Easy to set up initially even if I couldn't take the box into the lounge as the delivery guys had placed the cardboard box on the soaking wet path before bringing it in to me. :(

TV on SD is as you'd expect, 1080p is fine and 4k is excellent. Firmware update gave me HDR options in picture settings but not been able to test it yet.

Smart menu's are pretty fast, 1-2 seconds max on waiting. Only time it was longer was when I was connecting to a shared drive on the network with over 1000 files on it.

2 issues though, under some circumstances we're getting a tick tick tick sound like a harddrive being read, but it's not all the time. Wife thinks it's when the screen is really bright but I'm yet to test, and i'm not sure if it's the TV or just one of my regular headaches but I've had a blinding migraine since yesterday afternoon. need to test that too.

Quickly popped the 360 on to it and it looked great at 1080.

For that money, it's an excellent option.

May I ask where you got the discount from?

Just a google for discount codes and the supplier.

Found a £40 off over £499 as I was looking at a sound bar as well but it means a single item for £499. £20 off for over £299 I think, and didn't buy the sound bar at the end.

What software do Hisense use?

No idea, sure I read it's a android OS as there is an android app as well.

It's not bad and a lot better than I was expecting, however the wife has just told me the ticking is back after an hour on. I'll have to test later, see what is causing it.

Maybe a fan at a guess.
