My brother has been looking for a 42" HDTV (can't be bigger due to placement)

So far looked at 3 lcd Bravia and Sagem DLP (can't recall product codes but 50" bravia was cheaper than 42" - eh?) both 42" for about £1200. His budget is up to £1300

Then he saw the 42PD6600 for £1200 - the various places he's been have all been running it on HD demo so he hasn't seen normal TV on it yet. Anybody on here got one? How good are they? Most viewing will be digital freeview for a while until HD stuff comes online so has to have good performance until then.

Any recommendations

Thanks

The 42PD6600 gets very bad reviews from users over at AV forums, Picture quality isnt very good and by all accounts its not very reliable either...not a good choice.

I have one and it is one of the worst mistakes I've made. Pic is not as good as other plasma's etc. my mums Panasonic Plasma, but the again that cost my mum £2500 last year. Sound is crap but bearable. The picture does improve after a while. If you need any pics, I'll take some if you want.

Thanks for the offer but - I and he would need to see one running. I had a look on AVforums a few weeks ago but the search must have been broken as I got 1 result on 6600 and it was 2 posts long. Just did a search and got loads of threads including a monster that starts out good then turns a bit sour. Recent batches seem a bit iffy and people are starting to compare them more now.

So thanks for the help guys
