hitachi ah4051 block inbound port 23

OK I have been asked by my boss to investigate the possibilty of blocking ports 23 and 2323 on the above router, and I have had a look through all the settings and everything. Is there like some secret way to get in to a router using cmd so that I can tell the firewall to block that port???

I have tried looking at the port fwd but that will only work from the network going out. I want to stop all traffic going to these ports from the internet.

How do you know it is open already, noramlly for something like that you'd have to go out of your way to open up the port.

I do not know myself but I have been asked to close the ports by my boss so IM just following orders.

Well unless the ports are specifically being allowed through then you'll probably be ok.

You might want to check that your router/firewall doesnt have a remote administration function that is turned on and that it doesnt accept connections on port 23.

When you get home try telnetting to your works WAN IP address, if it connects somewhere then you might have a problem!
