Just wondering if there is any way to switch the Hitron CGNV4 over to modem mode. A business we deal with has switched over to VM Business Broadband and they have been supplied one of these routers. Now, ideally they would like to carry on using their existing equipment as they have decent kit and it is already configured properly.

Looking into it, it seems you can only run modem mode on these if you have a dynamic IP, but this is no good as the company use a static IP. Are there any work arounds for it? I've come up with nothing!

Surely this is a bit stupid on VMs part as most businesses will want to use their own kit. I spoke to VM and they said they have a firmware update planned to enable this functionality, but they have no date for it.

Virgin do some really daft VPN thing for customers with static IPs - not sure if that's just the way DOCSIS works or a VM-specific quirk.

I haven't used the Hitron CGNV4 yet but I have several business service connections using Superhub's. The only way to use your own router with the business superhub is to get the 5 static IP option which gives you a routed subnet. I think the 5 static IP's is only available on the 50MB and 152MB service.
