hive heating system

You have to upload them with a 3rd party site and link to them in your post.

John Ward on youtube has done a series on boiler wiring. I followed his S plan video to install my hive.

Here is his combi thermostat wiring video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMeuX33mTAE

If you have an existing timer with a backplate you can sometimes just do a straight swap as long as the wiring layout is the same.

Live, Neutral, & Earth, go in the same place....And if you dont know that, then dont touch anything!! :D:D

Wire A goes to Terminal 1
Wire B goes to Terminal 3
Do not put any other links in place.

What boiler do you have? Make/Model?

Worcester
Greenstar 25i

That's a shame, you should have kept the first Hive you ordered. You would then be able to use the hot water channel of the hive to time the preheat of your Worcester boiler.
Your Worcester has 240v switching, and doesn't need the volt free terminals of the combi Hive.

I have the original Hive thermostat and I've found the setup to be flakey (disconnects/signal issues/pairing problems) and the software pretty terrible and lack even simple functionality years later (2 light bulbs in one room can't be paired and have a single switch in the app - eugh!).

Unless the Gen 2 thermostat is significantly better I'd get something else tbh.

Nice one, you have enough wires at the old Honeywell receiver to use the hot water and heating function of your existing(original) Hive purchase, using its common 240v rail.
The question is: Are you prepared to remove the cover off your boiler, and electronics panel and rewire it?

Connection 4 is where two 240ac switching wires come in from the Hive backplate to switch heating and water preheat.

so my kit just arrived.

thermostats fitted on the wall.
1 ch receiver arrives tomorrow.
thats when the fun begins.

Honestly, if you have even the slightest doubt, call a qualified professional. Electric can be dangerous if not isolated/turned off. Better to spend money than risk serious harm.
