Hi guys. We just bought a new build house and wanting to fit an hive active heating system in.
But we got a bit stuck due to the amount of wires there are in the current thermostat. (There not as many as I think we need)

Boiler is logic combi esp1 30
And thermostat is danfoss tp5000

Any ideas?

The receiver is the piece which is required to be wired in. You don't really want that where the old thermostat is and you don't have enough wires in that location. You need three Live, Neutral and a Call wire.

Those wires will go into the boiler. You will need to remove them from the boiler and isolate them at wall and boiler.

You then need to mount the receiver near the boiler and run a cable into the boiler finding the L, N and whatever the boiler manual says it uses as heating call. This may be a single 240v or volt free two wire option.

This will require everything to be safely electrically isolated and the boiler case opened. Which you need to consider if it's something you are capable to safely do.

If a wireless thermostat was already used it would be a much easier job as there would be a receiver already near the boiler with the wires required.

That wire looks like a 3 core with a grey wire chopped off. If so then you can potentially use that grey wire as the neutral that you need for the receiver.

A hive rooms that operates wirelessly. It is the receiver that needs to be connected to the boiler.

If I am correct and there is a grey wire available as I suspect then you could pull the cable back, closer to the ceiling, and mount the receiver at high level.

The brown will provide a permanent live to the receiver, the black will be a switch wire back to the boiler and the grey is a neutral.

If you take the cover off your boiler you should find a connection terminal inside. It most likely has a flex coming from a switched spur to provide power. The 3 core that goes to your existing room stat should terminate inside the boiler. In fact you will probably not have to do anything except for finding that grey cable, hopefully it isn't chopped off, and connecting it to the neutral.
