I have an old Worcester 24SI II, no thermostat in the house, its either on or off from the boiler switch, OR on timer, which doesn't work well at weekends when I want different running hours from evenings.

Whats the cheapest way to get a Hive fitted, and would it work with my old boiler so I can have specific hours for the heating to be on? Finally do you need a mainsplug nearby?

You have everything you need at the boiler (most likely, though haven't seen the job) and the cheapest way is to do it yourself if you know how and are competent enough.

It will be cheapest to fit yourself, but I'd just pay for the fitting cost, it's very cheap compared to any other type of gas/plumbing/electrics.

There is a relay unit which is connected to the boiler (usually where the old timer was), a Thermostat with AA batteries where you can fit anywhere and then the hub which you put somewhere near your router. I had an 'unusual' boiler in the house I moved into early last year and the Hive and fitting cost £184 for the heating and hot water version in a sale. My time is worth more than the hassle it would have taken to fit it - the guy from British Gas took about 2 hours and a lot of phone calls so it would have taken me at least double.

Thanks guys,

its an old timer like this built into the boiler

£184 for hive and fitting sounds really reasonable!
