HL2:EP2 - Box or Download?

What purpose does a box serve these days? You look at it once then lose it.

-Cheaper.
-Uses less bandwidth (some people have quite restrictive allowances).
-Reduces the need to back things up / easier to file away.

I don't have a problem with systems like STEAM, it's just that they need to be a bit more competitive on price.

Not always.

So true. My "Black Box" was free :)

Also, anyone who is on an ISP package where downloading the game would be detrimental to their browsing experience due to their download limit, really needs to look at how crap their deal is.

Capped internet = Fail.

Not everyone has the option to choose their ISP though, e.g. some people living with parents or uni dorms.

It's also true that when taking out their ISP some people probably weren't planning on downloading games, given that the tradtional model has always been to buy them on cd/dvd

Bought the Orange Box, when people say it uses too much bandwidth, they must be with a really crap isp or on a crap package if they cant even download 1 legitimate game

because of the crappy part of South Yorkshire i live in maximum download rate is 512Kbps which means that my internet sucks, and even i bought TOB via steam just left it to DL overnight, well worth it. though i will also invest in it on disc when its released as i have pretty much every valve game ever made on disc.

I quite agree with this simple statement.
I've been with Demon since 1997, via various dial-up, ISDN and now ADSL.
They introduced a "fair usage policy", last year I think it was, which allows me 60gb per month. If I go over that, I don't get charged extra, or loose connection, but I do get peak surfing throttled to... 128kbps!!

Now, 60gb a month is pretty good compared to some other ISPs, though I do catch myself sometimes wondering whether it's worth downloading "one more demo" or another HD video, what with my PS3 sucking down all the demos/HD vids it can, me using Steam, Joost, gametrailers.com, etc, sometimes I think I must be close.

What provider do you use, which is cap free?
Where I live there is no cable, no ADSL2, just standard ASDL, and I currently get 7.5mbps connection.

V1N.

i downloaded it, £26 for all those games and the TF2 beta, bargain!

Plus it takes 5-10 mins to download a game, would take me around an hour to get into town to buy it, plus fuel/parking it works out cheaper to download
