I have just purchased the Orange Box. Have downloaded Episode 1 and thought I'd give it a try.
My computer is rather ageing but runs HL2 and insurgency beautifully so I figured it'd be fine for Episode 1, however I just can't get it to run without crashing after a few seconds.
My comp spec is as follows:
P4 2.8GHz
1GB PC2700 RAM (I think that's the speed of it off top of my head)
Geforce 7800GS OC (AGP)
As I said, it runs HL2 perfectly at 1280 x 1024, relaly smooth, high settings on most things. The same on Insurgency.
To begin with I left the settings on the recommended ones, it went through the intro sequence and into the game though was a bit stuttery. I hit escape and went tot he video optiosn to turn the settings down a smidge nd it crashed. I tried turning virtually everything down to low but that just seemed to make it worse and it crashed on the intro sequence.
I was going to try making sure all the settings were the same as I use for HL2 and Insurgency but it was late and I was fed up so I didn't get a chance, will give it a go this evening.
Is Episode 1 drastically more taxing on the comp than HL2? Anyone else such problems?
