HL2 HDRbloom patch problem

I know its an old game, though with a high res texture pack and fake HDR its gotta be worth another shot.
After installing the hl2r8hdrbloom patch which mimicks HDR with PS2.0, I get a sick look:

I've tried different drivers / settings etc.
Anyone any ideas how to cure this square purple disease ?

I've just tried that on my machine here, and I get the same thing happen, so I wouldn't worry about it. Shame though, I would've liked to have a quick blast on HL2 with Bloom.

I've got a 3GHz P4 with X850pro and 512MB Ram.

very different graphics card too, must be the patch

Its the new, chav version of HL2.
