I played this through a few weeks ago following a recommendation by a fellow forum member. I got as far as the part where the person communicating with you attacks the base you're in and you have to escape to the surface. I started playing it tonight again and bugger me this mod is huge! I thought I was almost finished when I stopped last time, but there's at least another 3 - 4 hours of play.

I have to say, it's scared the **** out of me a few times as well, bloody monsters chasing me all the way and I am running out of bullets! Arrrgh! :D

It's a brilliant mod, easily as good as HL2 Ep 1 & 2 and just as long. If you haven't tried it then give it a go!
 
Ah crazy! I finally finished hl2 (and the episodes) last week after a mate got the orange box and plowed through it all in a week after a year of me showing him how good hl is....

Anyway think ill be playing this next week!
 
I downloaded it and played for about an hour. It appears to be a very good mod with smartly designed maps and good game play.

Very professional looking!

Basically you download it, read the readme file to install it to the correct directory, restart steam and it'll be in your game list.

I'm at the part where you pick the 2 gun turrets up and those monsters keep running at me with the hand grenades. It's pretty hard and i too am running out of bullets! :D
 
yeah, downloaded this last night after reading this thread. Played for a bit and very impressed. Gives the half Life fix i've been missing after playing and replaying the other games. Impressed with the mod so far.

Have not tried the cinematic mod either so looks like a lot of Half Life goodness for me coming up :)
 
Yeah, you will need HL2 installed cause it's a mod. The Mod will draw everything it needs from the source engine and various set pieces/models etc from the HL2 install; which is why it's only 150mb.
 
turns out L4D and TF2 make up 79% of the HL2 install anyway, I clicked 'resume' at 8:50 and it's gone up to 82%, so I should be able to play it tonight :p
 
The Guy who made this addon originally did a part 1 and part 2, I don't think they exist anymore as it's been rolled into one.....Yes it's absolutely fantastic and professional and I'm sure the Guy has a top job in the game industry now !

The original Metastasis must be 3-4 years old and I think the final version must be the best part of 2 years old now
