HL2 stuttering when it wasnt an hour ago?

Ok i dont know whats going on here, i was playing half life 2 this morning, shut down the pc like normal, came back to it now and exactly the smae place as i left it, game is unplayable, like im using too high a setting, it stops completely or a second or 2 at a time in places.

Now this should not be happening, especially as it wasnt before and i have changed nothing.

Is this a sign of something sinister?

ive also posted in another section, but my CPU is using about 13-14% at idle and is fully clocked up, i cant see what is using the 13% in task manager however. Could this be the cause?

Doubt it. I played HL2 on a single core Athlon XP 3200+ back in the day

I had a stuttering issue with my SLI set up which was down to a bad cpu over clock, try it with stock settings

The CPU usage was the link, it was a vundo variant-msfake virus, as i said in the CPU thread superantispyware picked it up, happened in the last session i expect, dont know how, never had a virus before!

if i didnt have the CPU gadget i might not have found out for a long while!
