HL2 x64

Whats the status with Half Life 2 64-bit? I know its out, but how stable is it? Also, on my x64 install of windows, I only installed steam, then copied my copied my steamapps folder over. I'm assuming this means I only have the 32-bit version, since thats what I copied over? If thats the case, would I have to redownload it to get the x64 version, and how would I tell if I'm running it?

it says on the menu if you're running the x64 version.

as for stability? didn't work at all for me. but it does for others.... i guess it's just pot luck.

What, the in-game menu or steam?

Either way, I'm not seeing anything saying x64 or the like, so I assume I'm not. Is it going to be a case of 'delete local game content' and redownload it?

ingame menu..... try bunging

in the launch options - it's the workaround i have to do with -32bit to force the issue. it might work the other way round too.

Just tried that, This is what I'm seeing. Guess I need to delete and start again, though how do I know it won't download the x86 version again? Afterall, steam is installed in the Program Files (x86) folder.

nah i auto detects/ changes the .exe, on the main menu there should be a little tab right at the top of the screen saying 64 bit version.

Does this work on all the Halflife engine games ? CS:S ? Team Fortress 2 ?

Does the -64 bit parameter work, or should it auto detect and just work ?

Only Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Lost coast are 64bit capable at the moment, so Episodes 1&2 will not show the 64bit mode notice at the top of the screen when you are in the main menu.
