Hlp with ram for x5650

Morning guys,

Just recently picked up a second hand pc with a ASUS P6X58D-E and a i7 930 in. Want to get a x5650 or higher into in. Would it be worth spending a lil more on the x56/60/70/80 models? or just stick with a 5650?

Also this motherboard runs tri channel ram but atm it has 2 4gb and 2 2gb chips. would it be worth buying a set of 3x4gb and run them in the correct slots or would it not really matter?

I have the same mobo with a I7 950 and 6GB of Corsair ram.

what would you be using the PC for at all? for getting the 5650 CPU I guess its something to do with editing or CPU intensive?

the ram I have runs at 1600mhz with the XMP profile applied in the bios.
