¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've been trying for ages, hunted high and low, and there are various guides but I've not managed to crack it yet.

Basically I'm trying to share a PDF printer (cups-pdf) under xubuntu over samba so I can print to it from XP boxes.

Easier said than done. the cupsaddsmb command produces all sorts of strange things...

Anyone else managed it? Are there any special permissions that need setting or anything like that?

Any specific need to print to a PDF file one the linux box? Because PrimoPDF is a pretty good windows alternative.
I have 4 windows XP boxes that I would like to be able to print to PDF, so I figured it would be better to have the Linux box do all the legwork. The Linux box is also a fileserver so it would be a good place to store the PDFs also.

After reading and re-reading the man page for cupsaddsmb, I followed the instructions to the letter, and after manually copying some .inf files it now works.

I can just double click the PDF printer, and the Windows box automatically copies the needed drivers from the Linux box and it's ready to go.
