Hmm. Have I got a Virus? Or something else at work?

I'm quite a lot of problems with a fresh install of Windows 7.

I've literally installed Sound, Graphics and USB3 drivers after formatting and installing Windows.

Any website I go to with a ssl certificate says "invalid certificate". I can't run Windows update, the Windows Update website gives me a "Connection Error" and MSE won't update itself (tried and fails). I can't run Steam either, though not sure if thats related or not.

Run a memtest
Failing that, hard drive diagnostics

Was it a brand new shiney un-used hard drive in the system ?

Sounds like a time issue... check the date and time in the bottam right hand corner.

If this is not correct every single website will be shown to have an invalid cert

might also need to set time on the BIOS, hapaned to me once

Yep you're all right, I was being a plank. For some reason (I certainly did not do it!) system date was set to 2069. Shame it didn't fix my sound, but everything else works now
