Hey. My until recently dearly beloved and much trusted 800W elitexstream psu has decided to stop working. That's after 4 months and 8 days, and their forum appears to be 90% filled with this model being dead in the same way.

So, RMA time. However I'm not convinced that I want to go anywhere near an ocz psu again. This was their flagship, and they've managed to get a 5 year warrantied product EOL within a year. Not impressive.

I believe it was exceptional, but my only other RMA took about 6 weeks to get back to me. As it was RAM, the computer didn't work very well without it. So I have slightly limited faith in their RMA system.

I value brand loyalty, and own a fair amount of components with the OCZ stamp. This has annoyed me a lot though, and might mark me going with someone else from now on. Would you give them a second chance?

Cheers

Well that's pretty conclusive. I've asked ocuk whether I can exchange it for a different brand, I think they'll be alright with it. I'm pretty sure PC Power and Cooling and OCZ are now the same people, I believe my ill fated 800W was one of the first joint ventures. Apparently not a success. I will spend a very, very long time on psu selection this time around. Probably don't even need 600W, its only an 8800gt.

Cheers guys

Nonetheless they are the same brand, so I think my confusion is justified. I think the best answer is going to be rma through ocz on the condition that it's replaced with a pc power and cooling model. There doesn't seem to be an 800W plus model with the ocz brand stamped on it anymore so this should be possible.

Anyone know how pc power and cooling compare to corsair? I'm looking to see if I have the funds to change brand entirely.

Cheers
