Just went through my DVD collection and here are the films i haven't seen.

I'm off work this week with an injury so i was wondering what I should watch first :) ?

The Transporter
Cronos-5/10
Devil's backbone- 7.5/10
Raging Bull
12 Angry Men - 7.5/10
Seven Samurai
Vertigo
A Better Tomorrow
Full Contact
Hard Boiled
Some Like it Hot
The Thin Red Line
Tsotsi
Analyze This
L.A Confidential
Pan's Labyrinth - 8.5 /10

As i say I've got a week off, so let's say 1 film per day = 7 films

What ones are top priority?

I really want to re-watch Pan's Labyrinth tonight

:)

Seven Samurai. Might take you a while to get into it, but it's well worth the effort - one of the great films of all time.

Cronos
Devil's backbone
Raging Bull
12 Angry Men
Seven Samurai
Vertigo
Hard Boiled
Some Like it Hot
The Thin Red Line
L.A Confidential

Make time to watch all of these!

From best to not-as-good (but way better than most holywood tripe) - based on the ones I've actually seen of your list (not seen raging bull etc):

Pan's Labyrinth - Spellbinding. Not much more than I can say to this, an exceptional movie. Lives of Others is another of this level of quality.

Seven Samurai - a long film, it'll take 3/4 hour to get going.. but once it does it's one of the best films out. No flashy effects, just great characters and story.

Devil's backbone - del Toro again, underrated and can be quite spooky.. A good film (better than Cronos) with very good characters and story.

Hard Boiled - Asian body count at it's best. A good Asian cinema film.

Cronos - again.. del Toro but probably the weakest of the films (his films). It's an interesting idea but for me it's too simple and the concept exists in other films.

Great analysis without giving away any spoilers, thanks a lot ;)

It'll have to be blooming good to beat Pan's Labyrinth

If the competition was for most over-hyped film, I'd agree. P's L is a good film, just not a classic. It's a fake arty film: makes people think they're watching an arty film when actually they aren't. 12 Angry Men is a classic, is are Seven Samurai, Raging Bull, Vertigo and Some Like it Hot. The rest range from very good to average, but are not true classics.

Please watch 12 Angry Men, it's probably the best film there simply because it is one of the best of all time. Seven Samurai is however great but a lot less immediately appealing in that it takes a good period to get going properly.
