Strange problem with it.

Just installed it on this new computer I built (worked fine on the old one).

When loading it just BSODs... the loading bit before it gets to the vista hardware check etc, after installation has completed.

Gives me:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFFFFFA8016800C7A, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF8000145E251)

Anyone with any ideas?

address like that, usally point to bad RAM or HDD.

This is a machine you've just built? where the parts you used new?

Looks like memory to me or (very unlikely) wrong SATA drivers.

If you have 4 bits of memory then try 2 and see what happens. Even though it passes memtest it could still be memory related.

Hey crowhorse, if you are trying to install Windows Vista on the system in your signature then I notice that you have overclocked it. I would highly recommend loading all of the default BIOS settings and running everything back at stock but obviously not forgetting to set the memory speed, timings and voltages to what the manufacturer recommends afterwards. Their have also been a number of accounts where user’s have been experiencing problems when installing Windows Vista with 4 sticks of memory installed so it may be worth taking two out and then having another go at installing Windows Vista. Once the installation process finishes then just pop the other 2 sticks of memory back in. :)

You are using the Retail copy of Windows Vista right? :)

Already have put it all back to stock speeds :)

Ah well... I'll have to give the 2gig a run for its money I suppose
