Hi all. I have a customers laptop atm. Initially a HDD issue was seemingly the problem. Having sourced a hard drive i set about a swap/reinstall. However upon hooking up the hard drive and being confronted by connection errors (check cable fail codes) i began to get suspicious. In an attempt to bypass the IDE connectors i plugged the drive into a lappy disk caddy and whacked the usbs into the back. This caused the computer to turn off. No great surprise there I thought. It was on batt power and the batt is cack.
So i go back to the customer and pick up the power pack. Plug it in and its still dead
so i hit the reset on the base and remove the batt entirely. HUZZAH! power light, thats a start. However there is no boot. Drives spin up CD works. No error code beeps nada.
Im thinking that rather unfortunately the mainboard may be dead. Any of you lappy boys got any info/ideas? I'd like to rule out as much as poss as due to the unfortunate circumstance i'll prolly have to go into my own pocket for a mobo if its dead.
